La Bella Italia

This is Aram on the duomo at Vatican City. That's the Pope's residence and other fountain-y things int he back ground. This is the heart of Catholicism, and for most of the world, the symbolic heart of our religion.

Not sure why I posted two of Chad.... they were both just stunning I guess. Hope his mother checks this site.

Tirzah took Priska on a date. Priska is still talking about it

DiGennaros in Italy

So the pictures from Italy are long over due, but here are a few.

That's me with my kids, ever so slightly bedraggled and exhausted, in front of Pieta. It was one of Michelangelo's first and finest works. It was really stunning to see in person, especially in the context of the massive St. Peter's Basilica.

The other is Aram and Shadrach feeding each other Uncle Pino's horse meat sausages.

Momspeak

As a mother of small children, you hear yourself saying odd things sometimes, and you think, "I can't believe there was actually a NEED to use those particular words together." But there was.

Tonight's outrageous directive was, "No spanking your sister with knives."

I also spent a morning grocery shopping with a suddenly bossy two year old, who very loudly directed me in the specifics of what I had to "BUY NOW, MOMMY. YOU BUY NOW!" (a cutting board), and what "YOU NO BUY, MOMMY! YOU PUT BACK!" (olives, which she loves). And so forth. I was too amused to determine appropriate discipline, but did draw the line at drinking out of the honey bear ("MY WANT IT, MOMMY! YOU OPEN NOW!)....It's going to be a long childhood, I'm afraid, dear Zafaran, but an interesting one....
