Two Parables
Dear Friends,
Due to the recent lack of photos and other universally delightful posts, I am drawn to add yet another text-only missive:
Parable One (By Soren Kierkegaard)
What happens to those who try to warn the present age?
It happened that a fire broke out backstage in a theater. The clown came out to warn the public. They thought it was just a jest and applauded. He repeated his warning; they shouted even louder. So I think the world will come to an end amid the great applause from all the wits*, who believe it is a joke.
*Wit: "A person skilled in banter or persiflage" (Webster's)
Parable Two (By Yours Truly)
What happens to persons who delight in discourse, but not content?
Two men so enjoyed the game of checkers that they added a single rule: "As soon as a piece is taken in a jump, it is to be immediately returned to the board." I believe they are playing still.

In order to (rightfully) discourage such entries, simply put pictures of babies or brides on this site, and posts like these will soon be forgotten.
Suppose those two men made this rule: "As soon as a piece is taken in a jump, it is to be immediately placed on a second board where the colors are swapped."
what is the letter "o" with a dash through it called? (as in the name Soren)
