Life on the farm

well, we have had a great weekend! we had a yard sale and turned lots of stuff into hard cash.. ( "to fill the holes" gramma nanna's phrase..which is why (other than aunt savannah) she took in old ladies, which is why there is a country rest home in greenwood.. hmm where might this lead?) ..well, lets say that isaac and zion had a yard sale....we discovered who the real barterers in the family are.. isaac is shameless, and gets the big bucks!  after i sold a bowl for a buck that isaac said he almost got $15 for ten minutes before ( till the lady saw the ceramic chickens.. i owe you, jess. but i didnt sell the green and white delicious doorstops) isaac suggested that i stay in the house, so i only went up to tidy up and cover things when it rained..  the rain was worth it but it sure made a mess...josh eason bought the john deere and we loaded it onto his truck and he pulled out real slowly and the deere wanted to stay, so it did.   so he came back and we hitched it to his truck and  i pulled him down to his house with him having a happy cowboy time on the mower.. today i heard a motor and here he came, down the drive on the mower. he had gotten it running, of course. ''i just checked for spark and..."  i offered to buy it back for $20 more than he paid...evidently it wasnt as dead as we thot.... but he is planning to buy the place from his mom and wants to mow from george's to our place..and clear the farm out again.... he got the majority of  the gumption in the family..skinny as a rail and works at the walmart distribution center throwing 11,000 boxes a nite (or something like that) wants to open an ace hardware store in salem,, if he can find a financial backer..loves the 'how things work' website.. needs help finding the door to his dreams, has lots of ideas and no one to help him know how to get there... he stayed and ate cookie dough with us.....  we were cranking ice cream  and eating cookie dough and frank (pigeon)  flew down to get a bite cause his dish was empty and he was hovering over me and all of a sudden bibb (half cat/ half kitten) leaped up and snagged him.. i screamed at him (bibb) and threw my cookie dough at him and my water glass and finally threw the cat, and the pigeon flew away...by then bill and josh had come running and bill threw his water at the cat who disappeared for awhile.. so tomorrow we will see if the bird has any ill effects from spending time in the cats mouth and see if the cat has any ill effects from being struck with flying objects or from being flung against the leg of the trampoline.. speaking of birds in peril.. a week or so ago a hawk hit the kitchen screen, trying to get miss maudie in her cage by the window.. i look up and there is this big bird "eagle spread''   ( ?) on the screen glaring at me..it jumped back into the flower bed and then hit again... and 10 min. later tried again..knocked the screen loose....cant you just see it if a hawk succeeds in getting into the kitchen?  now all you kids are big kids now so who do i tell stories too?  not that you are so dreadfully interested in the cats and birds, but the story habit dies hard..
